Michael Hatgas

Michael J. Hatgas passed away on June 4, 2026, at the age of 77. In life, he was a man committed to his family, faith, and values. Michael bettered his community and parish through membership in the Jaycees (including a stint as president); providing guidance in RCIA, Christ Renews His Parish, and Pre-Cana; volunteering with the Sunday Collection team, and giving back to many and various non-profits. Michael enjoyed reading, music, and gardening. He will be remembered for his congenial smile, commitment to education, his integrity, kindness, and humility. His legacy lives on in his sons, their families, and the lives he touched.

Beloved husband of JoAnn (nee Trannett) for 55 years; devoted father of Christopher (Kimberly), Joseph (Colleen), Kevin (Kelly), Jeffrey (Colleen Melaugh), and Jonathan (Amy Northrop); cherished grandfather of Anna, Julia, Matthew, Joseph, Liam, Michael, Connor, John Paul, Mary, Luke, Bridget, Kolbe, Teresa, Molly, Samson, Nathaniel, Ryan, and Olive; dear brother of William and Gary; also survived by a nephew, niece, and many friends.

Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 8, 2026 at St. Adalbert Parish, 66 Adelbert St., Berea (EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH) Interment Woodvale Cemetery.
