Robert A. Burovac, 83, of Middleburg Hts., Ohio, passed away on March 4 after a long illness. On his final day, he was surrounded by his family in the comfort of his home, where he had lived for almost six decades.
Bob joined the Middleburg Heights Fire Department in 1965 and served his community for 30 years, retiring with the rank of lieutenant in 1995. Bob always had a smile on his face and seemed to know everyone, sharing a joke and a laugh with everyone he met. He was a big fan of the Cleveland Browns, Indians, and Cavaliers. Bob loved his Harley, and enjoyed spending weekends watching NASCAR and evenings sharing a drink with his friends at the American Legion. His daughters and granddaughter knew that they were finally considered adults when he brought them to the Legion to have a drink with him.
Bob is survived by his wife, Donna (nee Larca), daughters Clare (Chris Mattaliano), Mary, and Melissa, granddaughter Pam (Adam Farmer), and great-grandson Nathan Farmer, as well as his brother Raymond and many, many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Kathryn (nee Slosar), and his brother Richard and sister Julia Justine. His love for dogs was deep, and although Lady #1-#4 are gone, he will be missed by Lady #5, as well as Lucy, Coco, and Toby.
The funeral service will be held at St. Bartholomew church on Wednesday, March 9 at 10 am. Following the service, Bob will be laid to rest at Woodvale Cemetary. There will be visitation at Craciun funeral home, 14925 E. Bagley Rd. on Tuesday, March 8 from 2 pm until 4 pm and 6 pm until 8 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to St. Bartholomew or a charity of your choice. The family is deeply grateful to Southwest Hospice for their support and care during the final weeks of Bob’s life.
