Robert Allen Sikon Sr. passed away on August 24, 2024, at the age of 84. Born on October 9, 1939, in Cleveland, Ohio, he spent most of his life in Parma, Ohio. Robert, affectionately known as Bob, was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who cherished family above all else.
Preceded by Parents, Jennie Sikon (2009) and Frank Sikon (1983). Married to his beloved wife Jan Sikon (nee Franklin) for over 62 years, Robert was a proud father to his three children: Robert Sikon Jr. (Mary), Gary Sikon (Donna), and Michelle Oriold (Darryl). He was also a doting grandfather to his five grandchildren—Dr. Joseph Sikon (Sarah), Matthew Oriold, Rachel Sikon, Nick Blum (Alyssa), Christopher Blum (Candice), and his three endearing great-grandchildren— Savannah, Scarlett, and Oliver. He is survived by his sister, Shirley Welsh (Bill), and his nephew, John Welsh.
Throughout his life, Robert's passions included watching Sports, playing Bingo, indulging in crafts, and showcasing his artistry in flowers. During his months in Assisted Living, Robert found joy in watching baseball games, often sharing these moments over the phone with his loving wife, Jan. A lover of great food, he delighted in his daily breakfast of bacon and eggs and loved when dessert was served, especially apple pie. Music also touched his heart, evoking deep emotions, particularly the classics of the 50's, 60's and 70's. Nothing evoked his emotions more than listening to performers who visited Middleburg Heights Assisted Living and shared those memories of songs with him.
Professionally, Robert worked and retired from Danly Corporation for more than four decades as a machinist and at one time he also owned a floral business called "Artistry In Flowers" for many years. Robert designed the flowers for all three of his children's weddings. Robert spent many years contributing to his community and showcasing his dedication and creativity. He was known for his quiet demeanor, warm smile, and a determined spirit, embodying the traits of a stubborn Polish man as his father did before him.
A devout Catholic, Robert dedicated much of his time to prayer and was devoted to Saint Pio. He was actively involved with Italian Sons & Daughters Association (ISDA), along with his wife, Jan, and their best friends, Norman & Linda Lakatos, where he enjoyed socializing and giving back. His love for sports, especially baseball and football, was matched only by his love for his family.
Robert will be remembered for his kindness, unwavering spirit, and the happiness he brought to those around him. He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories that will continue to inspire his family and friends.
A visitation for Bob will be held on Friday August 30, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a funeral service the following day, Saturday August 31, 2024 at 10 AM, located at Craciun Funeral Home, 14925 Bagley Road in Middleburg Heights, Ohio 44130. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
