Ive been struggling these past days trying to accept the fact that Im not going to see you anymore.  Im not going to hear your voice, your laugh, and your aw shucks.  Im not going to be able to come visit you with Maureen and the kids, and enjoy our talks,  You trying to sneak cookies and candy to the kids, and your caring heart that you always shown us.  Later today and tomorrow we will be celebrating your life, and saying goodbye (as hard as that is for me to come to terms with).  Please know that you will be greatly missed.  Thank you for being you, and all the memories you gave me and our family throughout our life.  October 24, 1938 - February 26, 2022.  Be proud of your dash Dad, as I am so proud of your dash. I love you and miss you so much already!  You will always be my hero and guiding light in life.

Where do I begin?!  You took me and Alafia in as part of the family from the moment we met you! You had such a forgiving, huge heart! You were such a gentle giant! We quickly formed an inseparable bond that many envied.  You were not my father but you were my dad! Thank you for loving me enough to share all of your stories and your memories with me! Thank you for trusting me even when you were frustrated with me for being the Sargent at Arms and making you take care of yourself through the years and in your final days.  But, most of all, THANK YOU for the giggle you gave me during our last selfie together Now I know the strength it took! Had I known it would be the last, I would have taken so many more!!! I wouldnt have stopped hugging you, I would have told you I loved you for the gazillionth time that day! Thank you for loving me unconditionally! I love you so very much and already feel the void in my heart! The only solace is knowing that you are free from it allNow you get to take care of me my guardian angel! And I know you will always be looking down on me saying, Aww shucks, Carmen! Sleep in peace, dad! I love you!

Uncle Rudy was the most demonstrative man I have ever known. Whether he was saying the Lords Prayer loudly in church or giving you a hug when he greeted you, he did so with great love & joy. He wasnt afraid to show his love, and I was always amazed by that. He greeted everyone with a hug and a kiss on the cheek & he left the same way. He was a tough Marine yet a tender, loving & compassionate son, brother, cousin, husband, father, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather & friend.

Dear daddy, what are we going to do without you? Whos going to laugh so hard and spit their teeth across the room? Who is going to laugh non stop when we cross our eyes and get the hiccups? Whos going to say to us Im so proud of you? You left to soon and to fast. I wasnt ready to say good bye. But it helps to know your not in pain and resting. I love you forever.
