Shirley A. Singleton (nee Kassay) passed on July 8, 2026, at the age of 68. Beloved wife of the late Dennis; devoted mother of Sara, Bryan and Marcus (Kellin); cherished grandmother of Alistair and Estrella; caring sister of Lynn Tackett (Hobart)(both deceased), John Kassay (Sharon)(both deceased), Jean Kamrada (Ed), Michael Kassay (Gloria), Mary DeVite (John Newton) and Ann Connors; dear daughter of the late John and Theresa Kassay; loving aunt and friend of many.
Shirley was our family’s North Star. She was our guide, our rock, and our greatest source of strength.
Throughout her life, Shirley held many important roles: daughter, sister, cousin, aunt, and friend. But the titles she cherished most were “Mom” and “Grandma.” Her heart overflowed with joy because of her grandchildren, and she was incredibly proud of her children—a pride she expressed often.
She was caring, loving, and endlessly generous, always putting the needs of others before her own. Shirley was the kind of person who would help anyone she could, even when she had very little herself.
She loved fiercely and faced life with remarkable courage. She could be no-nonsense when the situation called for it, but she also had a wonderful sense of humor and loved making people smile.
Shirley was a devoted Cleveland Browns fan. She loved watching the games with her family, enthusiastically doing “the wave” and cheering—and sometimes yelling—at the television!
She also loved to travel, especially to the beach. Her most recent trip was to Myrtle Beach for Mother’s Day. One of her favorite and most adventurous memories was driving across the country, taking in the beautiful scenery and cherishing every moment along the way.
We will find you in every wave that reaches the shore, every sunrise, and every sunset. We will feel your love surrounding us always. You will forever be our Wonder Woman, our guiding light, and our shining star.
The family will receive friends SUNDAY JULY 19, 2026, 1-4 PM at the A. RIPEPI AND SONS FUNERAL HOME, 18149 BAGLEY RD., MIDDLEBURG HEIGHTS (WEST OF I-71). Funeral services will conclude visitation at 4:00 pm.
Graveside prayers 11:00 a.m., Monday July 20, 2026 at Holy Cross Cemetery. Please meet inside Brookpark Rd. entrance.
