STANLEY J. GAVEL, age 96. Beloved husband of the late Patricia Gavel (nee Hayes). Loving father of Ronald Gavel (Janine), Karen Gavel (deceased), and Lori Kline (Jason). Dearest stepfather of Robert "Butch" Hutchison (Roberta "Bert"), Ed Hutchison (Lisa), Tina Rouanzain (Randy), and Kathy Matney (Toby). Cherished grandfather of Ronny Gavel (Pamela), Kimberly Gavel, Albert Garrison (Cynthia), Phaedra Ledger, Jason Withrow, Alexandria Withrow, Brandon Hargus, and Brianna Hargus. Adored great grandfather of Alyssa, Jeffrey, Lily, Maxwell (deceased), Willow (deceased), Katrina Washington, and Ray Bradley. Dearest great great grandfather of many. Also survived by step grandchildren, step great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend, and proud U.S. Army Veteran — a selfless servant who would help anyone, whether family, friends, or even strangers. He touched so many lives with his love, kindness, generosity, and one-of-a-kind personality that was full of fun and life. He truly was an amazing human.

Golf was his passion, and some of his happiest moments were spent on the course with his son and friends. He also loved bowling and, at the age of 80, proudly bowled his first perfect 300 game — an accomplishment so special it was featured in the local newspaper in Elyria, the community he called home for over 30 years.

He deeply honored and loved his mother and father and will always be remembered for his incredible sense of humor, silly sayings, and the way he could make everyone around him laugh. Whether he was telling stories, joking around, or enjoying his favorite “heeney-hocker,” he brought warmth, fun, and unforgettable memories to every room he entered. His love, laughter, and spirit will live on forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held on Tuesday May 26, 2026, at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at 2:15 PM located at 10175 Rawiga Rd, Seville, OH 44273 (EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT THE CEMETERY ENTRANCE AT 2 PM).
