

TERRENCE J. RINAS, age 69 passed away August 26, 2025. Beloved husband of Margaret “Marge” (Nee Van Belleghem). Loving father of Haley M. Checovich (James), Stacy A. Rinas (Samuel Larkin) and Megan L. Kistner (Ryan). Cherished grandfather of Mason, Evan and Harper Checovich, Ada Larkin, Brooklyn and Lacey Kistner. Son of the late Arnold and Colleen Rinas and brother of Tad Rinas (Karen) and the late Thomas and Toby Rinas. Son in Law of the late Edward and Catherine Van Belleghem and brother-in-law of Christina Buczynski (Ronald) and Marilyn Gunsch (Bruce). Uncle, cousin and dear friend of many.
Terry was born in Cleveland to Arnold and Colleen and grew up on Hocking Blvd. in Brook Park. He participated in high school sports, while also working to help support his mom and brothers. Even after graduating from Midpark High School in 1974, he decided to live at home to continue helping his family.
Terry met Marge Van Belleghem in 1976 and proposed on Valentine’s Day 1979. They married later that year on November 10, 1979, and were soulmates for the next 46 years. Their first home was on Westbrook Drive in Brook Park. Terry joined the Brook Park Fire Department on August 1,1977 where he spent over 34 years on C Shift. In 1988 after having Haley, Stacy, and Megan, they needed a larger home and moved to Middleburg Heights.
Terry and Marge raised their daughters and shared many wonderful memories on Sandalhaven Drive. Terry kept his circle close and enjoyed dinners with family and friends in retirement. His hobbies included coaching his daughters in his younger years and sharing his household wisdom with his sons-in-law. Terry was a proud grandpa and cherished the time he had with his grandchildren.
Terry passed peacefully with Marge at his side. Their love story was one for the history books- a true definition of the perfect marriage. Terry was loved by so many and will be remembered for his kindness and desire to care for his loved ones. He was truly dedicated to providing the best life for his family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, 14865 Bagley Road, Middleburg Heights, Ohio on Friday September 5, 2025 at 9:00 AM. The family will receive friends Thursday September 4, 2025, from 2 – 7 PM at the A. RIPEPI AND SONS FUNERAL HOME, 18149 BAGLEY ROAD, MIDDLEBURG HEIGHTS, OH (West of I-71).
