THOMAS F. SCHREIBER, age 74. Beloved husband of Gayle (nee Fortlage). Loving father of Matthew Schreiber (Allison), Mary Schreiber, and Molly Nehr (David). Cherished grandfather of Corinne Schreiber. Dear brother of Jane Eder (John, deceased).
Tom was born in Malvern, OH where he grew up spending time with family and playing sports. It is there his love of baseball and especially the Cleveland Guardians began. He would leave Malvern to attend the University of Akron for a degree in education. While in college Tom would meet Gayle, his wife of nearly 50 years. Together they would build a home filled with love and laughter. Their love was timeless.
Tom would become a history teacher and athletic director at Valley Forge High School. It was in this position that his love of sports collided with his job. He devoted so much of his life to VF and their athletic programs. His love of sports can easily be seen in his baseball card collection and the roughly 40 years he played in his TOBBL Fantasy Baseball League.
Although Tom held many titles in his life, his favorite role was being a papa. He loved his three children Matthew, Mary and Molly unconditionally. He enjoyed spending time with them whether it was talking and laughing, playing golf, going to baseball games or out for ice cream. The apple of his eye was Corinne, his granddaughter. There was no place he would rather be and no person who could put a bigger smile on his face than Corinne.
Tom will be missed by so many.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in memory of Tom to the O'Neill Healthcare Scholarship Fund (https://oneillhc.com/scholarship-fund/).
A Closing Prayer Service will be held on Wednesday November 20th, 2024, in the funeral home at 6 PM. The family will receive friends on WEDNESDAY from 4 PM - 6 PM at the A. RIPEPI AND SONS' FUNERAL HOME, 18149 BAGLEY ROAD, MIDDLEBURG HEIGHTS, OHIO 44130 (WEST OF I-71).
