After retiring from Armco, Bettie Jean continued to meet life with steady purpose, taking to the road as a semi-truck driver—work that reflected a quiet resolve and an enduring independence.
Music remained a constant source of comfort and meaning throughout her life. Bettie Jean especially loved bluegrass and gospel music, sounds that carried both tradition and reassurance and that stayed close to her heart.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Hill; sisters, Marjorie Roberts, Clara Gingrich, Mattie Johnson; nephews, Jeff Norris, John Roberts and Scotty Johnson.
Bettie is survived by her nieces, Diana Bowers, Barbara (Phillip) Leach, Suzi Roberts; nephews, Gregory (Kathy) Pelfrey, Jim (Patricia) Roberts; great-nephew, Brian Norris; great-niece, Joyce Norris (Lex Cawdrey); great-great-niece, Kendal Cawdrey; stepdaughter, Crystal (Kane) Barger; caregivers, Ryan, Richard, Michelle, among many others.
Visitation will be 4 PM-5 PM, Thursday, October 1, 2026 at Breitenbach Anderson Funeral Home, 517 South Sutphin Street, Middletown, OH 45044. A Committal Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, October 2, 2026, at North Monroe Cemetery.
