Charles “Chuck” Bost of Monroe died Saturday, September 2, 2023. Born in Centralia, IL on March 10, 1940, he lived briefly in St. Louis, before growing up in Poplar Bluff, MO, graduating from high school there.
A chemistry degree from the Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy in 1963 led to him being commissioned as a second lieutenant in the US Army, serving on staff for the engineer school at Fort Belvoir, VA. Married in 1964, he relocated to the Middletown area and worked as a technical writer for Armco, years later became a partner in Triangle Advertising and later still started his own marketing communications company.
He was a co-founder of Faith Alliance Church, co-founder of Friends of The Middletown Public Library and was active in Kiwanis. As a member of Breiel Church in Middletown the past 30 years, he taught Sunday school and served in various leadership roles. He was a student of the Bible, an avid reader, piano player, singer, nature lover and, back in the day, was known to bowl and play golf.
He was preceded in death by his parents Russell and Edith, and his beloved granddaughter Natalie. He is survived by his wife Betty, his son Chuck (Susan) and his son Jim.
Visitation is set from 5pm to 7pm Thursday, September 7th, at Breiel Church in Middletown. A private burial will be at North Monroe Cemetery the following day with a celebration of life service at Breiel Church at 4pm Friday, September 8th. Flowers will be appreciated as will donations to Suncrest Hospice.
