Charles left school in the 8th grade to start supporting his mother, after the loss of his father. He was a life-long learner and truly a “Jack of all trades” when it came time to fix something. He loved history and exploring his genealogy. He retired from Smurfit Corporation and spent his retirement years traveling with his wife and later his granddaughter, grandson and great-grandchildren, hitting 49 of the 50 states. His favorite thing to do was watch his children and grandchildren play sports.
Charles was an avid fisherman, once winning a national fishing contest for smallest fish caught. His largest trophy hung on the family wall for all to see. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church for over 50 years, and was a benevolent follower of Jesus. Charles never met a stranger, loved to tell stories and brag about his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was the anchor of our family and will be missed dearly.
Visitation will be 1 PM-2 PM Friday, December 26, 2025 at Breitenbach Anderson Funeral Home, 517 South Sutphin Street, Middletown, OH 45044. A Funeral Service will follow at 2 PM with Pastor Jim Winters officiating. Burial will be at Woodside Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Disabled American Veterans.
