One of my favorite memories, from my daughter-in-law's bridal shower.  Miss Dot wanted it to be simple, yet elegant so out came the china, crystal, rented linens and beautiful floral centerpieces.  She and Betty made sure I had enough of everything.  The shower was as elegant and classy as Miss Dot herself.  She was one of a kind and our family was so blessed to be considered "family" - we loved her dearly and will miss her so much!.  Our deepest condolences to her family.  Our hearts mourn with you.

Dottie became my mentor for my entire nursing career. She was my first DON in my first job outside the hospital at Mt. Pleasant. We were both Miami grads and saw our profession very similarly.

I met her at the Boone Tavern in Berea a few times when I lived in Annville. She was always so supportive of my career and encouraged me to climb even higher.

I used to write her at least one "missive" of several pages at least once a week when she was my DON at Mt. Pleasant. It was my first job being in charge of people, and she gave me so much great advice that lasted my entire lifetime. 

I was so happy to get to share all my successes with her over the years and give her the credit for it.  

She talked me into working Long Term Care when I met her at Camp Lebanon back in 1977. She told me she needed someone bright who could do physical assessments when a doctor wasn't around. That's how I worked the night shift for her for 3 years in the late 70s/early 80s. 

She convinced me that long-term care was where the most talent was needed, and after working under her, I later made it my career.

Then, she created a position for me as the Village Nurse on day shift for the independent residents. She believed in me and really helped create who I became as a nursing supervisor and later as a DON myself.

Her legacy lives on in me, and everyone I ever mentored myself. I look forward to seeing her again in Heaven! 🥰

Kim, your mother was so special to us.  She visited The Secret Garden often years ago hosting her beautiful events.  
She had so much talent. We were fortunate to have seen her just 6 weeks ago and will cherish that last visit.

This is Sondra Banks Campbell. I remember the days we use to come to your house in Rickard acres.  Your mom was always so nice. I’m sorry for your loss. I currently lost  my mom too and it’s very very hard. I hope you the best. 

I was very saddened to hear of the passing of this amazing, faithful woman of God who had such a profound impact on my faith journey. Truly, if it wasn’t for me meeting Dottie, I may not have ever grown in my faith. When I met Dot, I was already on a new path serving God, but she helped to open my blind eyes to see and help others in a deeper way. She taught me not to expect too much from people, but just to love them in their imperfections. She told me that we must always and only put all our trust in God alone because He will never leave us or let us down. Her smile and laugh were infectious, and she always made my day brighter. She was usually my last stop for the day because I knew our visit together would go into the early evening. I so enjoyed listening to her stories about her experiences with the church as a young girl all the way to her being grown up and married with children of her own. I always got the sense that Dot was a very strong-willed person who was a hard worker for her achievements in life. She was so intelligent, and I appreciated all our conversations as challenging as they could be sometimes. She loved a good debate. She was so gracious and considerate of others. She will truly be missed. My sincerest condolences to all her family. I’ll be praying for peace and comfort from our Lord Jesus to blanket you all during this difficult time.
