Dorothy Louise Emrick died June 30, 2023 in Middletown, Ohio. She was born January 25, 1934, the first child of Seth and Nora (Elam) Potter in West Liberty, KY. The family moved to Middletown in 1940 and while she was raised in Ohio, she always considered herself a girl of the mountains.
She graduated from Middletown High School with the proud class of 1953. In 1955 she married Charles Emrick, and together they raised their three children, Kimberli, Karen and Kip. As a graduate of Miami University, Dottie used her BSN to complete a 40 year career in nursing.
She was a member of the Breiel Blvd. Church for more than 60 years and served in a variety of ways, most enjoying the ministries that served the homeless, hungry and marginalized in the community. Her interests included reading, decorating, entertaining, gardening, scrapbooking with Billie and Betty, and traveling. She loved God, family, friends and her community, and hoped she served them well.
Preceded in death by an infant brother, Jerry; sister Margaret Travis; husband Charles and children Karen Bartel and Kip Emrick, Dottie is survived by brother Samuel Potter; daughter Kim (Doyle Williams); and daughter-in-law Michelle Emrick; grandsons Joseph (Kelly) Bartel; Justin (Amy) Bartel and Jordan Bartel; Devin (Rachel) Williams; Andrew (Brianne) Williams, and granddaughter PFC Rachel Emrick. Great-grandchildren Loralei and Morgan Bartel; Jackson and Lucas Williams, and Zoe Williams, and special young friends Gavin and Penny, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
