

Helen Cannoy Kontnier left us on May 26, 2026, at Hospice of Butler and Warren County after living a remarkable life for 100 years and 7 days. She was born May 19, 1926 in Scranton, Kentucky, the daughter of Samuel and Effie (Sorrell) Powers.
Through the years she worked at Montgomery Wards, Middletown City Schools cafeteria aide, Meijer and Elder Beerman where she made many friends. After her husband, Paul Cannoy, passed in 1963 she dedicated her life to raising their three children.
Also preceded her in death was her husband, Jim Kontnier, along with brothers, Jack, Edward, Allen, Sam Powers; sisters, Beatrice Williams, Louise Gillespie, Hazel Amburgey and son-in-law, Fred Runnells.
Helen is survived by her children, Brenda Runnells, Judy Cannoy and Dan (Angie) Cannoy; grandchildren, Paul Brown, Adam Brown, Emily (John) Coppa, Danielle (Mike) Slagle; great grandchildren, Corinne Brown, Max and Marshall Coppa, Aidan and Ella Slagle, Lola Crowe, Michaela (Mike) Riestenberg, Lillie (Evan) Crowe, Landen Runnells; sister, Norma (Farris) Robinson and many nieces, nephews and friends that called her Mom.
Visitation will be 12:00-1:00 PM on Saturday, May 30, 2026 at Breitenbach Anderson Funeral Home, 517 South Sutphin Street, Middletown, OH 45044. A Funeral Service will follow at 1:00 PM with Pastor Tom Myers officiating. Burial will be at Woodside Cemetery.
