James Lowell Brammer

BRAMMER, James L. age 94 passed away July 25, 2026 in Lewis Center, OH. living with Parkinson's disease but staying active until nearly the end. He was a lifelong resident of the Middletown/Monroe area before moving to the Columbus area with his daughter, Carolyn. He spent the last 2 years at The Avalon of Lewis Center (Columbus, OH) and the last 2 weeks in the care of Trinity Health Hospice.

Jim graduated from Monroe High School (1950) and was athletic in track, baseball and football. He joined the U.S. Air Force (1951) and was an Intercept Operator translating international Morse Code. He spent 2yrs. 10 mo. in Germany and traveled to thirteen countries before his honorable discharge in 1955. He was extremely hard working starting his civilian work life as a Butler County Sheriff's Deputy for one year, Middletown Post Office clerk/carrier for 32yrs. (retired) and Middletown City Corrections Officer for 13yrs. (retired).

He was married to Margaret (Peggy) Brammer (Daly) for 53 years and raised three children (David (deceased), Carolyn Harrison of Lewis Center, OH, Lynda Fultz of Middletown, OH).

He was an avid walker earning the beloved nickname "The Walking Man" as he walked 10 miles a day on Cincinnati-Dayton Road. He walked to and from work from the top of the West Middletown hill/Rt 122 to the Post Office in Middletown during the 1978 blizzard. He was really good with math and valued being active and healthy. He enjoyed summers sitting in the sun and on the patio followed by a dip in the pool. He cherished his daughters and would do anything for his family. He will be immensely missed until we all meet again in heaven.

He is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Mary (Breeding) Brammer; brother, Robert Brammer; twin sister, Janet Brammer (2010); son, David James Brammer (2007); and wife, Margaret (Daly) Brammer (2010). He is survived by two daughters: Carolyn Harrison (Richard) of Lewis Center, OH and Lynda Fultz (Larry) of Middletown, OH.; six grandchildren: Kaitlyn (Fultz) Aspacher (Drew); Rachael (Fultz) Spears (Mathew); Lauren (Harrison) Schiebel (Connery); Morgan (Harrison) Cramer (Benjamin); Jason Brammer, and Samual Brammer; and eight great-grandchildren: Ava Hensley of Monroe, OH, Isaac and Joanna Spears of Middletown, OH, Delany Schiebel of Cape Coral, FL, and Olivia and Emma Cramer of Tiro, OH, Mason and Mylah Brammer.

There will be no public visitations and burial will be by cremation at Woodside Cemetery following military honors and services at the Scattering Gardens by Pastor Brian Morris.
