

JoAnn Smith, 92, of Trenton, passed away on Saturday, August 9, 2025. She was born November 29, 1932, the daughter of Clarence and Ruth Gingrich. Married to the love of her life, Charles F Smith, on October 8, 1960.
JoAnn graduated from Middletown High School in 1950. Received a scholarship from Junior Achievement to Middletown Business College, graduating in 1951. She worked for Inland Container for 44 years.
JoAnn was a Member of the Trenton Mennonite Church all of her life, serving as the treasurer for over 24 years. She sang in the choir for over 50 years and in the Interdenominational choir. Joann was involved with many aspects of the church and served on many committees. She also served as a deacon trustee. A member of Church Women United and Business and Professional Women.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles F. Smith; brother, Larry Gingrich; and a sister-in-law, Shirley Gingrich.
JoAnn is survived by her stepson, Charles (Barbara) Smith; niece, Darby (Todd) Cognion; nephew, Chad (Gina) Gingrich; great niece, Jordan Cognion (Osborn), great nephews, Chase Gingrich, Cole Cognion, Brian (Abbie) Downey, Chad Downey, and many other nieces and nephews. Special Friends Debbie Hounshell, Bernadine Alderfer, and Beverly Conlin.
Visitation will be 11:00 am-12:00 pm, Friday, August 15, 2025 at Breitenbach Anderson Funeral Home, 517 South Sutphin Street, Middletown, OH 45044. A Funeral Service will follow at 12:00 pm with Pastor Jason Pauley officiating. Burial will be at Woodside Cemetery.
