John S. Campbell Sr., 74, of Middletown passed away on February 26, 2021 at West Chester Medical Center. He was born in Blue Diamond, Kentucky on September 27, 1946, the son of William and Rachel Campbell.
John was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was an avid fisherman, who thoroughly enjoyed catching Crappies. John enjoyed golfing and bowling. His sense of humor will be missed by his family and friends.
John served in the United States Army as a Paratrooper in the 101st Airborne, during the Vietnam War. He was a Purple Heart Recipient. John was awarded the Award of The Army Commendation Medal for Heroism, after saving 5 lives.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Vernon Campbell, Agnes Mosley, and Herman Campbell; and his faithful dog, Roxie.
John is survived by his wife of 54 years, Freida Campbell; sons, John S. (Jennifer Tracy) Campbell Jr., David Wayne (Judy) Campbell; daughter, Lisa (Sean) Schroeder; grandchildren, Jaime (Dustin) Walter, David Wayne (Natalie) Campbell II, John S. (Crystal) Campbell III, Chase Campbell, Sean Schroeder Jr., Shane Schroeder; great grandchildren Isabella Campbell, Sophia Campbell, Bryson Campbell; a brother, Thurman Campbell of Virginia, and a good buddy, Jeff Stines.
Visitation will be 11:00am -12:00 pm on Thursday, March 4, 2021 at Breitenbach Anderson Funeral Home, 517 South Sutphin Street, Middletown, OH 45044. Funeral Service will follow at 12:00 pm with Pastor Phillip Hoskins and Reverend Wendal Lamb officiating. Burial will be at Mound Cemetery.
