Hey Kylie, 
I miss your smile. I miss the laughter behind your eyes when we were pretending that we weren’t goofing around in band class. I miss the hushed chaotic conversations that we would have in Spanish class. The way we would talk about nonsense on the way to the annex building between classes. When you would come to my marimba during water breaks and I would teach you fun little runs that we were learning for the show. Or the band camp early morning crack of dawn conversations on our way to the nice showers because the water was hotter and the bathrooms were empty. I miss throwing sticks as high as we could in the band room when Leisten wasn’t looking or hiding behind the marimbas so we could talk without getting caught in rehearsal. I miss when we would run back to the barn during breaks to teach each other new runs because we were the only ones excited enough to keep playing. I miss looking over at you during jazz band rehearsal, just to make silly faces that made each other smile. Or looking at you teaching the younger kids in drum line how to play their music down by the pond. I think back on our big trip to Disney where we shared a room and went almost everywhere together. Running off on the first day at the water park to go down water slides that no one else wanted to or to race on the tubes. Do you remember us playing that clapping game while we waited hours in that Hulk line? I miss how much joy you brought into my life. When I first met you at band camp all those years ago, despite your shyness, your ambition to be the best you could be drew me in. The talent and drive within you made me want to be every bit as good as you were. Then when you finally opened up, the goofiness was what sealed the deal. You were one of my closest friends in school. You always brought joy and laughter into my life and I could not be more grateful to have known someone so wonderful. You were always the brightest, funniest, and coolest kid. And I will forever miss you.

Kylie, you were one of the first students I ever had, and the first to show me that the bonds that we build run so much deeper than music, and they are forever. Ever since I cheered you up after a rough day at band camp I knew that I would always have your back, and I still do. You always wanted to be better and do more and we challenged each other constantly. I will remember you in everything that I do. Your friend "Mac Pickett".

Kylie, I love you so much. So many people will remember you as Middletown's best center snare, but I will always remember you as the quiet 8th grade xylophone player. We nick-named you "Kylo the Xylo" and you fit perfectly in pit. You were my first "pit baby" - a younger member who I tried to take care of. I remember when you moved to drumline, your first day of high school, your first AP class, all the times we were bus buddies, when you got your license, listening to music in Marshall's car, seeing Dunkirk and telling you One Direction lore. I remember when you couldn't sleep on the way to Disney and you curled up on top of your mom and fell asleep almost instantly. I will always remember you sitting out by the lake at band camp, practicing on your drum pad, looking so peaceful and content. Love you forever, Kylo.

Hey ik that we've never met we've only spoken over phone and messages but the Lil time that we had spoken you had always been sweet towards me and really cared about my son Dillon. And from wat you've told me about some stuff you were going through broken my heart cause no child should ever have to go through. Now you can rest easy sweetie and you'll never be in anymore pain. I am absolutely heart-broken to hear of Kylie's passing. I had the privilege of teaching music Kylie for 7 years from the 6th -12th grades at Middletown. She was fun, sweet, kind, brilliant, talented, and always focused on success. She contributed so much to our program as a musician, but also inspired and motivated so many young musicians to be better during her time in the band. I will always remember Kylie's laidback attitude and infectious smile. I miss you , Kylie, and hope to do a little drumming with you someday on the other side.

Kylie was a very sweet girl very talented she was always quite and respectful around me she was friends with my granddaughter bekka  we would give her rides to school once awhile I'm so sorry for your loss prayers

I am so deeply saddened to hear of Kylie’s passing. She was my daughter’s section leader her first year of marching band and was such an inspiration to her. Rest in peace, sweet soul. My heart and prayers go out to all her family and friends.

Kylie was a beautiful and kind soul. I remember being in percussion with Kylie and all of the competitions and laughs because she was very funny. I wish her family peace and healing in these trying times.

Kylie was like a mentor in drumline to me. To hear this news saddens me, really hard to hear. We always had a good time and she taught me a thing or two on snare. Forever will be missed.

My most heartfelt condolences to the Collins family.  I was lucky enough to get to know Kylie as a band Mom. She was such a special young woman - I know she will be truly missed.
