Love of church, family, and community were the hallmarks of her life. Nancy touched the lives of people near and far, made connections that continue to surprise, spent each day looking for gratitude and joy, humor and learning, wisdom and guidance. Nancy began her career as a nurse trained in Pittsburgh, PA and applied that practice to all of her life’s endeavors. She was always ready to dive into deep topics, to play word and card games, to attend art or music events, to taste or cook something new, or to share tales of her grandchildren.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Julie Gaume, and her husband of nearly 60 years, John A. Peterson. Survivors include her three children Elizabeth Peterson Cooke (Jacob), Anders A. Peterson, and John H. Peterson (Michelle); her grandchildren, James August and Johannah Grace Cooke, Emily Grace and Owen Thomas Peterson, and Austin Hayden (Kristy), and Cole Edward Peterson as well as her niece Anne Gaume. Nancy was also recently blessed with her latest joy, great-granddaughter, Josephine Jean Peterson.
Services will be held on Tuesday, April 21, 2026 at the First Presbyterian Church in Middletown, Ohio with Rev. Justin Miller officiating. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. and a luncheon to close.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Middletown, the Middletown Arts Center, or Hospice Care of Middletown.
