Orville Glyndon Blackledge

He was born August 26, 1930, in Laurel, Mississippi, the son of Leonard Blackledge and Eliza Gertrude (Walters) Blackledge.

Orville was a proud member of the United States Air Force, joining in 1950 and retiring as a Master Sergeant in 1973. His time in the military allowed him to see the world and experience living in Georgia, England, Florida, Alaska, Nebraska, and on Guam. After retiring from the service, he moved his family from Starkville, MS, and settled in Clarksville, TN, where he ran his own heating and air service for 16 years and resided until 2020. He enjoyed fishing, spending time with friends and family, and finding joy in nature, his grandbabies, and puppies.

Orville was known for his calm and caring manner, as being fair-minded and someone you could count on, who was always supportive, loving, and hopeful.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Blackledge, and his siblings, Winfred Blackledge, Frances Pitts, George Hollis Blackledge, and Imogene Manning.

Orville is survived by his children, Krista (Larry) Petersen, Kevin Blackledge, and Kathy (Donnie) Pickel; grandchildren, Brian (Jocelyn) Nash, Taylor (Max) Agee, Jessica Petersen, Jeffrey Petersen, Dillon Blackledge, Derrick Foulk, Dakota Blackledge, and Damon Pickel; great-grandchildren; Sarabeth Nash, Hannah Nash, Owen Agee, Bryson Agee, Aiden Hines, Gavin Hines, Maylee Petersen, and Rowan Stewart, his sister-in-law, Bonnie (George Hollis) Blackledge; brother-in-law, Floyd (Frances) Pitts, and other loving family members and friends.

Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at Breitenbach Anderson Funeral Home, 517 South Sutphin Street, Middletown, OH 45044. A Funeral Service will follow at 10:00 AM with Chaplain Tom Meyers officiating.

A Graveside service will be held at Berry Highland Memorial Cemetery in Knoxville, TN, 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 21, 2025, with Chaplain Sandy Tracy officiating.
