

Al Sutton, 65, of Midland, passed away Monday, September 13, 2010. He was born March 12, 1945 in Belleville, Illinois on Scott Air Force Base. He attended elementary school in England and graduated from Limestone High School in Limestone, Maine. Al attended the USF Academy and the Western New Mexico University. He met and married Phyllis Fraley in 1969. While he was working on his Masters in Sports Medicine he taught conditioning at the University at Iowa. He continued his teaching career in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where he taught math and coached the high school baseball and football teams. In 1977 he went to work for Halliburton in Hobbs, NM, and moved to Midland in 1984. He was a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, and a Deacon at the Westside Church of Christ. He is survived by his parents, Al and Thelma Sutton of Tucson, AZ; wife Phyllis of Midland; daughters, Carrie Horne and husband Tim of Ft. Worth; Christine Tatarelis and husband Ken of Naperville, Ill.; brothers, Ned Sutton and wife Kathy of Tucson, AZ; Wade Sutton and wife Kathy of Littleton, CO; sisters, Joyce Reecks and husband Lee of Pinetop- Lakeside, AZ, Jane Vance of Tucson, AZ; grandchildren, Nathan Horne and Lance Tatarelis. Memorial services have been scheduled for 11:00 A.M. Saturday, September 25, 2010 at the Westside Church of Christ with Mike Vestal officiating.
