

Mr. Anastacio “Andy” Perez, Jr. left his earthly home on Thursday, October7, 2010, at the age of 84. He was at his home in North Reagan County, where he had been a farmer for 44 years, when the Lord called his name. Andy was born in Melvin, Texas, to Anastacio Perez and Felipa Alcoser on December 18, 1925. After graduating from Melvin High School in May of 1944, he was drafted into the U. S. Army in August of that same year. Andy served his country willingly and proudly in World War II on the front lines and was honorably discharged on July 4, 1946. On December 29, 1945, Andy married the love of his life, Bertha Lopez. They started their life together on a farm near Melvin before moving to North Reagan County.
Andy was preceded in death by his father, Anastacio Perez; his mother, Felipa Alcoser; six brothers, Juan, Antonio, Santos, Gavino, Pablo and Nestor; and five sisters, Antonia Laing, Theresa Laing, Maria de Jesus McKinny, Irene Perez and Gregoria Trevino. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Bertha Lopez Perez; his son, Anastacio Perez III and wife, Argentina of Big Lake; and his daughter, Maria De La Paz Saldibar of Big Lake. Andy is survived by one brother, Guadalupe Perez and five sisters, Antonia Lira, Odelia Perez, Elena Diaz, Corina Rodriguez and Sulema Serrano all of San Angelo. “Grandpa” is also survived by eight grandchildren: Robert Saldibar, Jr. and wife, Pam of Round Rock; Tina Perez Mireles and husband, Eddie of San Antonio; Roland Saldibar of Big Lake; Anastacio Perez IV and wife, Norma of Big Lake; Berta Maria Saldibar of Odessa; Rita Saldibar Garcia of Odessa; Alberto Perez of San Antonio; and Raymond Saldibar and wife, Laura of Big Lake. He was blessed with eleven great-grandchildren: Ashli Marie Saldibar, Analicia Mireles, Ridge Robert Saldibar, Veronica Perez, Nicolas Mireles, Justin Roland Garcia, Anastacio Perez V, Valerie Marie De La Paz Saldibar, Jennifer Rosalina Garcia, Raymond Saldibar, Jr. and Berta Maria Jasso. He is also survived by one great great-grandchild, Bayli Marie Saldibar Lorenson. There are numerous nephews, nieces, god children and close friends who will mourn his passing. Anastacio was a Catholic and had been a member of the St. Lawrence Catholic Church since August of 1966. He was a devoted husband and loved all of his family members greatly. Andy had a smile for everyone he met. He loved his farm and worked every day that he could. He cherished God, his family, his friends and his dogs. Many of his friends feel that they were a part of his family because he made them feel that way. He will be missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Honoring him as pallbearers will be Robert Saldibar, Jr., Roland Saldibar, Anastacio Perez IV, Alberto Perez, Raymond Saldibar and Jose Antonio Garcia. The family will receive friends Sunday, October 10, 2010 between the hours of 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm. The Rosary will be Sunday, October 10, 2010, at 7:00 pm at Ellis Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, October 11, 2010, at 10:00 am at St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Interment will follow at the St. Lawrence Cemetery. Lunch will be served to family and friends at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church Hall by the church community members.
