Obituary of Ascencion Lerma Gonzales Jr.
Ascencion Lerma Gonzales, 61, of Midland, Texas passed away Thursday May 12th of 2022. Junior. was born in Big Spring, Texas to Beatrice & Ascencion Senior. He married the love of his life, Penny Sue Sanchez on September 3rd, 1985. Junior spent the majority of his life as a managing service station attendant. His passions included being surrounded by family and he was most commonly known for blasting his favorite tunes; there was no genre he didn't enjoy. He loved cheering on his adored football team, The Texas Longhorns. Junior was always the soul to make people laugh and was the notorious prankster of the family. Junior leaves behind his wife of 36 years Penny. Wherever Penny was is where Junior wanted to be and it was very seldom they were apart. When he got to playing his music, he dedicated his favorite love songs to her. Junior was the most loving father to his beloved daughter, Jessica Gonzales and his adored son Ascencion Lee Gonzales III, and daughter-in-law, Jasmine Gonzales. Junior was the oldest of 8, and will be greatly missed by his siblings Belinda Gonzales, John Paul Gonzales and spouse Sonia, Jesse Gonzales and spouse Virginia, Patricia Gonzales, Juanita Gonzales and spouse Guero, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Junior is preceded in death by his parents, Beatrice & Ascencion Senior, as well as his brother Michael. Junior's presence on this earth will forever be missed and always be remembered. He touched each and every soul he met. His sense of humor and laugh were contagious.He was simply unforgetable. His family finds comfort in knowing he has been reunited with his loved ones who have passed before him, and is now experiencing eternal peace with our Lord and all the angels. The family wishes to thank the nursing staff at Midland Memorial Hospital and Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital for the continuous care and support they showed Junior, He was a fighter until the very end. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 17th, 2022 from 12:00 - 7:00 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m.at Ellis Resthaven Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, May 18th, 2022 at 11:00 a.m at St. Ann's Catholic Church located at 1906 W. Texas Ave. Burial will follow at Serenity Memorial Gardens Cemetery located at 6800 South State Hwy 349.
