

Bettie Jo “BJ” Davidson passed away May 17, 2011 at Northwest Regional Medical Center in Amarillo, Texas. Services will be held Friday, May 20th, 2011, at 3:00 pm, at Ellis Funeral Home Chapel. There will be a visitation with the family on Thursday, May 19th, from 6-8 p.m. BJ was born September 26, 1953 to James D. and Bettie Davidson in Georgetown, Texas where her father was stationed as a Texas Highway Patrolman. She spent her early childhood in Fredericksburg, Texas and moved to Midland in 1961. She was a graduate of the Midland High School class of 1972 where she was an outstanding student, lettered in speech and debate, and was a member of the 1972 Catoico Court. BJ graduated with honors from West Texas State University with a B. S. in Speech/Communications in 1975 where she served as President of the Speech and Debate Team, was named West Texas State University Woman of the Year, and served as President of the Student Body. She was involved with the Red Ribbon Campaign, Mission Messiah – a local recovery, restoration and women’s shelter, and recently, Faith City Hope for Women’s Program and Martha’s Home in Amarillo. Bettie Jo had been a member of Mid Cities Community Church and recently joined with the Church at Quail Creek in Amarillo, Texas.
She is survived by her parents; James D. and Bettie Davidson of Midland, Texas, a brother, John Davidson and wife Freda of Amarillo, Texas; four sisters: Jamie Thompson and husband Doyle, Janet Hall and husband Russell, Marla Morton and husband Rick all of Midland, Texas, and Judy Hinkle and husband Nolan of Dripping Springs, Texas; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Russell Hall, Richard Morton, William Logsdon, Jimmy Conner, Darrell Conner, and Glenn Conner. Honorary pallbearers are Doyle Thompson and Jerry Moore.
