Billy was born March 23, 1925 in Crawford, Texas to J.W. and Josie Lee Elder. He married Jean Marlow on January 17, 1947. Together they had two children, Steve and Kathy.
Billy served in WWII in the US Navy. He had a career with Mobil Oil from 1947 to 1984. Upon retiring he then worked with Law Buck Compressor until his death.
Billy is survived by his bride of 66 years, Jean Elder, sister Mary Ann Mara, daughter Kathy and husband Bill White, grandchildren Coby and Cory White, Courtney Warden, Ryan, Jeremy, Cody, Kyle, and Matthew Elder. He is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son Steve Elder, his parents and three brothers.
Billy enjoyed working, hunting, and spending time with his family.
A visitation will be held from 6pm-8pm Tuesday July 9, 2013 at Ellis Funeral Home. The funeral service will be on Wednesday July 10, 2013 at 11am in the Ellis Funeral Home Chapel.
