Billie Clark Halstead passed away March 23, 2014 at Midland Memorial Hospital. She was born May 6, 1927, in Amarillo, Texas. Billie was preceded in death by her parents, Bettie Cooper and Welsey Ernest Griffin; her first husband Walter Thomas Clark, and her second husband Louis N. Halstead. She graduated from Lubbock High School and attended Texas Tech University.
Billie was a member of Christ Church Anglican where she served the church in many capacities including choir member, vestry member and as Episcopal Church Women Board Member and as a member of the Daughters of the King. In addition she also represented her church on the Church Women United Board.
Billie was an avid reader and was a former reader for the Recording Library For the Blind and Physically Handicapped. She was also a former member of Twentieth Century Study Club, En Amie and a member of the Thursday Lunch Bunch for twenty-five years.
Survivors include her daughter Cynthia Clark Graham (Gene) of Austin Texas, her son David Thomas Clark (Cynthia) of Pensacola, Florida, her grandchildren Laurie Mullins (Carl), Ben Graham, John Clark, Susan Clark, great-grandchildren Caroline and Kimberly Mullins, Jay and Parker Graham and Asia Clark; also her brother Robert E. Griffin (Jewel) of Murfreesboro, Tennessee and stepson Jay Halstead of Houston, Texas.
The family would like to give heartfelt thanks to her excellent caregivers Mary Lou Reyes, Lee Villalobos and Jan Saenz who never left her side and gave her their most wonderful, tender and loving care.
The family requests that memorials be sent to Christ Church Anglican, 5501 N. Midkiff, Midland, Texas 79705. She will lie in state Wednesday, March 26, 2014, 3 to 9 p.m. at Ellis Funeral Home and funeral services are Thursday at 2 p.m. at Christ Church Anglican
