

Billy was known for his strong work ethic, faithful heart, and quiet dedication to serving others. For 55 years, he worked at Bowens Drive In Grocery, where he built lasting friendships and earned the respect of customers and coworkers alike. In addition to his career, he faithfully maintained the landscaping at Calvary Assembly for many years, taking great pride in caring for the church grounds. He was a devoted member of Abundant Life Church.
Above all, Billy cherished his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend whose kindness, dependability, and gentle spirit left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
Billy is survived by his loving wife, Darlene Pruitt of Midland; his daughters, Sheryl Simmons and husband David of Belton, Jana Jobe and husband Rodney of Midland, Traci Gover and husband Ron of Wake Forest, North Carolina, and Crystal Taylor and husband Scott of Yukon, Oklahoma; his brothers, Ken Pruitt and wife Betty and David Pruitt and wife Sandy; his sister, Marilyn Boyington and husband Charles; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immeasurable joy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Agnes Oleta and Willie Lee Pruitt, and his brother, Robert Pruitt.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at Calvary Assembly. Burial will be held privately by the family.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Jobe, Jake Simmons, Ryan Simmons, Jacob Morris, Preston Taylor, Ben Johnson, Peyton Johnson, and Cooper Jobe.
Billy's legacy is one of unwavering faith, hard work, and deep love for his family. He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
