Bobby was born in Stanton, Texas, April 3, 1937 to Vera and Monroe Thurman. He attended school in Midland and Stanton. Bobby enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1956 and began a career in commercial construction work in 1958. He became a youth director and then a licensed minister in the Assembly of God organization.
Bobby married Bertha Doyle in 1977. They were married 38 years before her passing in 2015.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two brothers Tex Thurman and Jack Thurman and sister Pauline Graves.
Bobby is survived by five sisters, his twin Betty Henry, Iva Treadway, Opal Sutton, Mona Maxwell and Judy Barton and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Ellis Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Graveside services will be held at Resthaven Memorial Park North on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at 11:00 a.m.
