

Boley Embrey passed from this life on Saturday August 22nd, 2015. He was born the second of four children on December 21, 1936 in Brownwood, Texas to Myron Hutchison Embrey and Jewel Ida Millhollon Embrey and attended school in Brownwood, graduating from Brownwood High School in 1955.
Boley married his high school sweetheart, Raye Ann Hoyle, on February 1, 1958. The couple moved to Midland in March, 1958, where Boley took a position as an account executive with KCRS radio. Subsequently he was Vice President of the First National Bank of Midland and later became President of Western State Bank, also in Midland. He entered the oil and gas business in 1979 and remained active in the business until his death.
Boley had a passion for his adopted home town of Midland, always seeking to promote
it’s positive growth and development. He served on numerous boards and committees, including the Midland Chamber of Commerce, Midland International Airport Economic Development Committee, Midland County Water Board, the original Downtown Midland Committee, Casa de Amigos, Midland Country Club and the Petroleum Club of Midland. He worked tirelessly on many city/county/Midland College bond issues and assisted with a number of local political campaigns. Boley’s proudest civic accomplishments were as serving as Co-Chairman of the Midland College Landscape Committee and also as Co-Chairman of the Citizens for a New Airport Terminal Committee. Among his other interests were various sporting events, particularly Houston Astros baseball and horseracing.
Preceding Boley in death were his parents, Myron and Jewel Embrey, and brothers Jodie R. Embrey, and Tully M Embrey; and sister Myronna Embrey Snell.
Survivors include; his wife of 57 years, Raye Ann; children Mark C. Embrey of Houston and Portland, OR, Chris H. Embrey of San Antonio and Anne Embrey Painter of Madison, MS; grandchildren Nicholas Embrey of Portland, OR and Joseph Embrey of Burlington, VT, Reese, Sam and Mac Barden of Midland and Embrey Elizabeth Painter of Madison, MS. Also surviving are sisters-in-law Molly Embrey of Brownwood, TX and Judy Embrey of Austin, TX along with numerous nieces and nephews and countless friends.
Graveside services will be held at the Indian Creek Cemetery in Brown County on Tuesday, August 25th at 11:00 a.m., with nephew Scott Snell officiating.
The family invites friends to join them at the home for remembrance and a celebration of Boley’s life on Wednesday August 26th, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Salvation Army, 300 S. Baird St., Midland, TX 79701, the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation, P. O. Box 834, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866, Gifts of Hope, 2100 W. Tennessee, Midland, TX 79701 or the charity of one’s choice.
Pallbearers will be Boley’s five grandsons and nephews Dr. Jeffrey Embrey of Irving, TX and Ty and Doak Embrey of Austin, TX. Honorary pallbearers are Chris Painter of Madison, MS, Mike Doss of Round Rock, TX, Jerry Bratton of Coppell, TX, Jack Byrd, Joe Liberty, George Staley, Glen Ellis, Charles Perry, Ricardo Elizondo, Charles Tierce, Ted Fergeson, all of Midland and Donald Nentwig of Irving, TX.
