

Carolyn was born on December 23, 1931 in Quanah, Texas to Stanley and Winona Claiborne. She moved to Big Spring in 1937 and then to Midland in 1945. She graduated from midland High School in 1949 where she had met James E. Dickinson, Jr. They married on July 28, 1950. They had one son Robert Michael Dickinson.
Carolyn worked for many years as a Data Entry Operator first at Shell Oil Company then at Permian Corp. and retired from Unocal in 1990. While retired she worked and volunteered at Baptist Crisis Center. She was a member at First Baptist Church of Midland.
Carolyn dearly loved her three grandsons and two great-grandsons. In fact, two grandsons lived with her up until her death.
She is preceded in death by her husband James and her parents Stanley and Winona Claiborne.
She is survived by her son, Mike Dickinson and his wife Jo Ann of Midland; her brother, James Claiborne and his wife Jo Ellen of Mesquite, Nevada; three grandsons, Davis Dickinson, Bradley Dickinson and Jason Dickinson; two great grandsons, Braden Dickinson and Braxten Dickinson; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Ellis Funeral Home from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Wednesday, September 14, 2016. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park at 10:00am on Thursday, September 15, 2016 followed by a Memorial Service at the Chapel at First Baptist Church at 11:00am. Honorary pallbearers are the ladies of the Naomi Sunday School Class.
Carolyn would like to thank her friend Maureen Thurman for all the kindness she gave her these last years and a thank you and appreciation to Janis Glass for her many years of friendship.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations be made to the Baptist Crisis Center, Box 2382, Midland, Texas 79702.
