

Celia Garcia Lara, of Midland, was called home to be with her Heavenly Father on April 2, 2010. She was born November 16, 1926 to Manuel and Susan Garcia in El Mulato, Mexico. She met and married the love of her life Apolinar Herrera Lara in Marfa, Texas. They moved to Midland in 1952. Celia was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Prior to her illness she had been active in many church activities and always involved in helping others. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, Enrique and Armando Garcia and her sister Elva Andrez. She is survived by her sons and daughter and their spouses; Apolinar and Margaret Lara; Greg and Martha Paredes both of Midland; and Oscar and Debra Lara of San Antonio, Texas. Her grandchildren and their spouses are Rick and Melissa Petralva; Mario and Jackie Paredes; Paul Matthew Lara; Lauren Lara; Stephen Lara; and Marcus Lara. Her great-grandchildren include Ashley, Jacob, Blake and Christa. Her surviving brother and sisters are Socorro Carrasco of Midland; Romelia Gomez of Roswell, NM; Amparo Salcido of Midland and Manuela Tavarez of Odessa. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandson, Mario Paredes, Matthew Lara, Stephen Lara, Marcus Lara and Jacob Paredes and nephew, Frank Salcido. The family will receive friends at Ellis Funeral Home, Monday, April 5, 2010 between the hours of 7:00 P.M. and 9:00 P.M. Funeral services have been scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at Ellis Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Tommy Revilla officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
