OBITUARY

Clifford L Bailey

November 13, 1927June 26, 2011

Clifford Leon Bailey, of Midland, passed away peacefully at his home Sunday, June 26, 2011. Cliff was born November 13, 1927 to Leslie and Mable Allen Bailey in Davis, Oklahoma. After graduating from Davis High School, he served in the U. S. Army during World War II. While stationed in Tokyo, Japan, he was a member of the administrative staff of General McArthur, and then served as the chief projectionist at the Ernie Pyle Theatre. Upon returning home, he attended college at East Central State Teachers College in Ada, Oklahoma, where he met his belated wife of 59 years, Lorene Bailey. He began his teaching career in Pauls Valley Oklahoma and during that time obtained a masters degree from The University of Oklahoma. Cliff and his family moved to Midland in 1960, where he served this community as a Principal at Bonham Elementary, Austin Junior High, Alamo Junior High, and Goddard Junior High, before retiring to become a full time grandfather. Cliff loved and lived for his family. The values that he instilled in his children and grandchildren were ones that best describe him: he treated everyone with dignity and respect, worked hard, and was faithful to God and his family. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, an avid sports fan, and a long-time supporter of OU. Cliff is survived by his daughter, Sharon Bailey Allsopp and husband, Gerald Allsopp, his son, Robert L. Bailey and wife, Jeannie Bailey, four grandchildren, Lesley Siebenhausen, Lucas Bailey, Rainy Hilliard, and Amanda Welch, and seven great-grandchildren, Kadin Welch, Ryder Springer, Tatum Fite, Brayden Fite, Christian Siebenhausen, Anistyn Bailey, and Michael Siebenhausen. The family will receive friends at Ellis Funeral Home, Wednesday, June 29, 2011, between the hours of 6:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M. Funeral services have been scheduled for 11:00 A.M. Thursday, June 30, 2011 at the Ellis Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend David Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Lucas Bailey, Derek Hillard, Chris Siebenhausen, and Cody Harris. Memorials may be sent to a charity of your choice.

WELL THE DAYS HERE HAVE COME TO AN END....OUR ASSURANCE AS CHRISTIANS IS THAT THIS END IS ONLY THE BEGINNING OF REAL LIFE IN GOD'S KINGDOM. MY PRAYER IS FOR THOSE WHO ARE ALIVE AND REMAIN ....OUR CONTACT WITH UNCLE COTTON WAS VERY LIMITED, HOWEVER WE DID GET TO VISIT WITH HIM AND AUNT LORENE JUST A FEW YEARS BACK. THEY WERE JUST AS, IN LOVE, WITH EACH OTHER IN THE LATTER DAYS, AS THEY WERE IN THE BEGINNING......MAY WE TOO ALL REMEMBER OR RETURN TO OUR FIRST LOVE AND MARCH ONWARD TOWARD THE MARK SET BEFORE US BY CHRIST......IN LOVING MEMORY OF THOSE TWO WHO SHARED MANY YEARS OF LIFE AND LOVE THERE AT 2000 N. "D" STREET I WAS UNAWARE OF THE PASSING ON OF THEM BOTH. GOD'S BEST TO ALL THE FAMILY FROM NEPHEW, PETE BAILEY AND WIFE VALERIE

My deepest condolences for Mr. Bailey's family. Even though I worked for Mr. Bailey for 15 years, I could never call him Cliff. His example as a principal was my worksheet when I became an administrator. I was lucky enough to tell him as much. He and you his loved ones are in my daily prayers.

I remember Mr. Bailey as my Principal in the 7th grade at Goddard Jr. High. He was a sincere man with respect for each and every student there. He will be missed in those hallowed halls of education. God Bless his family.

My first principal--and was he great! He taught me how to teach because I was so green. He let the kids out on snowy days to throw snowballs...and he was right there with them. He was one of a kind. We loved him.

The sweetest man I ever knew, my Bonham principal. So sweet, that I never forgot "Mr. Bailey" and I'm pushing 60.
There is a new angel now and he's probably wherever the children are! Be proud of him and my prayers are with all of you.

"Pop" was a wonderful and wise man who loved his Grandchildren like crazy! He had sweet nicknames for each and I'm not sure but I don't think he ever said the word "NO" to any of them! :)We will forever treasure having the pleasure of knowing him.

Praying for peace and comfort for you all~
