Clifford Leon Bailey, of Midland, passed away peacefully at his home Sunday, June 26, 2011. Cliff was born November 13, 1927 to Leslie and Mable Allen Bailey in Davis, Oklahoma. After graduating from Davis High School, he served in the U. S. Army during World War II. While stationed in Tokyo, Japan, he was a member of the administrative staff of General McArthur, and then served as the chief projectionist at the Ernie Pyle Theatre. Upon returning home, he attended college at East Central State Teachers College in Ada, Oklahoma, where he met his belated wife of 59 years, Lorene Bailey. He began his teaching career in Pauls Valley Oklahoma and during that time obtained a masters degree from The University of Oklahoma. Cliff and his family moved to Midland in 1960, where he served this community as a Principal at Bonham Elementary, Austin Junior High, Alamo Junior High, and Goddard Junior High, before retiring to become a full time grandfather.
Cliff loved and lived for his family. The values that he instilled in his children and grandchildren were ones that best describe him: he treated everyone with dignity and respect, worked hard, and was faithful to God and his family. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, an avid sports fan, and a long-time supporter of OU.
Cliff is survived by his daughter, Sharon Bailey Allsopp and husband, Gerald Allsopp, his son, Robert L. Bailey and wife, Jeannie Bailey, four grandchildren, Lesley Siebenhausen, Lucas Bailey, Rainy Hilliard, and Amanda Welch, and seven great-grandchildren, Kadin Welch, Ryder Springer, Tatum Fite, Brayden Fite, Christian Siebenhausen, Anistyn Bailey, and Michael Siebenhausen.
The family will receive friends at Ellis Funeral Home, Wednesday, June 29, 2011, between the hours of 6:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M.
