David was born on May 3, 1954, in Casa Grande, Arizona, to David Lewis and Emily Phelps Wilson. He enlisted in the Air Force at the age of 19, to serve his country for the next 21 years. For the majority of his military career he was stationed at Andrews Air Force Base, Maryland, assigned to the 89th Logistics Squad, a support to the Presidential Fleet. He was an avid and able A&P mechanic ad our country benefitted much through his keen mechanical knowledge and gifted inclinations. The time spent at Andrews AFB gave lasting childhood memories to his daughter Tracy and son Michael, both born from his 28 year marriage to Sandra Tidwell. He was heavily involved in the Youth Soccer League coaching, reffing, and overall organization. He played a huge role in establishing the first select Travelling Soccer Team on Andrews, also acting as Assistant Coach to Michael by doing so. He dedicated much of his post military life being active at the American Legion Post 19, VFW Post 4149, while also becoming a Mason and a Shriner. In his prime, he was a bow hunter, fisherman, hot rod mechanic, pool shark, and an overall guy’s guy, who could seemingly fix anything if it involved his hands. He was a sharp dresser, and stayed creased up and smelling good. One of the most stubborn men most of us knew, God love him, he was a good man nonetheless. Let us honor him in death by remembering the good in his life. He is missed, He is loved, forever.
David is preceded in death by his mother Emily Wilson; his father David Lewis; his sisters Jenny Gardner and Tammy Jenkins; his niece Jamie Moore; and by two days, his stepfather Bobby Wilson.
He is survived by his daughter Tracy Lewis; his son Michael Lewis and wife, Jasmine; grandchildren Jacob and Emily White, Briana and Ethan Lewis; sisters Mary Howell, May Moore, Lisa Lewis Driskell, Dana White, and Laura Lewis Hall; brothers Mark Wilson, Tommy Wilson, and Terry Wilson; stepmother Dolly Lewis; and numerous nieces and nephews. While David spoke highly of and loved all his friends at the VFW, American Legion, Masonic Lodge, and the Shriner’s Organization, he was particularly fond of and partial to Joey and “Quatro”.
