

Delores Jean (Glasford) Hines of Midland, Texas passed away on Wednesday, November 10, 2010. She was born in Omaha, NE on April 11, 1932 to Ethel and Virgil Glasford. Delores was raised in Omaha, NE and attended Central High School where she received the award for “Best Legs” on the Girls’ Field Hockey Team. She and Vernon Hines were married on August 27, 1951 in Omaha. They had four children. Delores and her family moved to Midland in 1966. She was employed for over 15 years as a bookkeeper for Mr. Bill Isbell. When her son was diagnosed with a mental illness, Delores became very involved in mental health advocacy and was instrumental in founding the Midland chapter of NAMI, in which she served in various roles including Secretary. Delores will be especially remembered for her avid pursuit of many sports including tennis and golf. Delores made life-long friends on the tennis court and in her later years, she took up golf so she could spend more time with Vernon on the golf course. Delores loved the outdoors and spent many happy times in Ruidoso, New Mexico with friends, fishing and playing cards. Delores was preceded in death by her parents and beloved husband. She is survived by her brother, Richard Glasford; her children, Kim Vest, Steven Hines, Susan Hannon and Lori Collins; grandchildren, Melissa Harrell, Tiffany Cooley, Joey Mireles, Hugo Mireles, Sean Hannon, Trevor Hannon, Joel Rich, Hannah Rich, and great grandchildren, Britney, Kayleigh and Zachary Harrell and Daisy, Urijah and Abbygail Mireles. The family will receive friends at Ellis Funeral Home, Saturday, November 13, 2010 between the hours of 2:00 P.M. and 4:00 P.M. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 A.M.
