

Dolores Jeanne Rodesney Seerey, a resident of Midland for 62 years, went to be with the Lord on August 25, 2025. Born on June 21, 1930 in Oklahoma City, she graduated from St. Joseph’s High School. She went on to study Nutrition at the University of Saint Mary in Leavenworth, Kansas. On June 7, 1952, she married the love of her life, John Henry Seerey III, while he was serving as Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force. Before settling into Midland, she set up households in Oklahoma, New Mexico and South Texas for her family while John worked with Mobil Oil.
Dolores was a devoted mother to her four children and lovingly nurtured them from childhood into adulthood. She was extremely supportive of their activities, sports and education. She encouraged them to volunteer and give back to the community. She was a kind, giving person and a very independent and strong woman. Dolores was active in the Midland and West Texas Community as a consulting dietician for many of the local hospitals and senior care facilities. She volunteered with multiple organizations such as Meals on Wheels and Helping Hands. She was active in local organizations such as the Midland Society of University Women and the Auxiliary for The Village at Manor Park.
Dolores is preceded in death by her husband, John Henry Seerey, III, her parents, George Rodesney and Thelma Shafranek Rodesney, and her sister, Georgia Lee White. She is survived by her four children – John Michael Seerey (married to Gail McCasland Seerey), Christopher George Seerey (married to Danna Ward Seerey), Jeanne Seerey Patterson (married to Jerry Patterson), and Mark Joseph Seerey (married to Diana Jordan Seerey); five grandchildren (John Michael Seerey, Jr, Jennifer Seerey Bond, Amy Seerey Roddy, and Heather Seerey Althuizen), six step grandchildren; five great grandchildren (Casey Roddy, Brooklyn Seerey, Brinley Seerey, Beau Seerey, and James Bond, Jr.); and thirteen step great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held at Ellis Funeral Home Thursday, August 28, 2025 from 4-8pm with a Rosary at 7pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church on Friday, August 29 at 10am. Burial will occur at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery in Oklahoma City Thursday, September 4, at 11am.
The family wishes to thank the members and staff at Hospice of Midland for their loving care and concern. Special thanks to the love and care provided by MacKenzie, Vanessa, and Macee of Hospice and private caregivers, Danielle and Gloria. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to Hospice of Midland or The Alzheimer’s Association or related organizations.
