It is with heavy hearts and loving memories, we announce the passing of Dorothy Mae Blackwell who left us to join her Husband Orvin ‘Blackie’ Blackwell’, her son, Gary Wayne Blackwell and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 2nd, 2025.
Born on May 20th, 1937 in Alvin, Texas, she was a beacon of joy, love and kindness to all who knew her.
Dorothy was a successful entrepreneur, devout follower of Christ, and loving matriarch. Her spirit of generosity will live on through every act of kindness her family and friends commit in her name. Dorothy leaves behind a legacy of faith, resilience, and the joy of exploration - a legacy that continues in each of us.
Her love for travel was not just a pastime but a way to connect with others, and her grandchildren were the beneficiaries of that love, often bringing them along to travel the country with her and her husband. Regardless of visiting 48 of 50 states by car, Dorothy’s favorite was always Branson, Missouri
Dorothy is survived by her daughters: Terry McCall and Elaine Minor. Her Grandsons: Larry Don Burton, Christopher William McCall, Billy Wayne Monroe and Granddaughter Bille Joe McCall, along with five great-grandchildren.
A viewing will be held to honor her life at Ellis Funeral Home on February 10th, 2025 from 5 to 7 PM. Funerary Services will be held on February 11th, 2025, at 10AM in the same location. In honor of her memory and in lieu of flowers please consider donating to a charity specializing in Alzheimer’s Research and Treatment.
