On Sunday, August 7, 2011, Dorothy Lenora Gerbitz passed into glory and was reunited with her husband of 61 years, Troy Lee Gerbitz. She was born July 28, 1926 in Retrop near Elk City, Oklahoma. That was where she met her husband, Troy. She is survived by her daughters, Helen Glaab (and husband Lyle) and Rosemary Ziegler (and husband Mike); granddaughters Shannon Peacock (and husband Drew), Krystal Sherman (and husband Josh); grandsons Christopher Glaab and Johnathan Garrett. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive her. During World War II, she worked as a “Rosie the Riveter”. Later in life she held numerous positions in her career. She was an awesome bridge player, hostess, and friend to all she knew. She was a member of the Bellview Baptist Church here in Midland. Dorothy and Troy traveled to Algeria with El Paso Natural Gas. They were able to travel around Europe, making many additional friends in the process. Memorial Services will be held Tuesday, August 9th, at the Manor Park chapel at 11:00 AM. Our family wishes to thank all of the staff at the Manor Park community, along with her physicians, Dr. Michael Miller, Dr. Robert Vogel, and Dr. Keith Poe DDS, for their care and consideration. Memorials can be made to Manor Park in her memory. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home of Midland, Texas. Condolences can be made online at www.ellisfunerals.com.
