E. Jean Pettit

E. Jean was born in Ennis, TX on February 17, 1930 to Loretta Burnett Crawford Jones and Willie Crawford. She attended high school in Rosebud, TX and studied to be a beautician. In 1949 Jean married Louis Henry Jr. To this union were born 9 children, Jacquelyn Y. Henry of Austin, Kenneth Bernard of Odessa, Louis Henry III (Kim) of Kansas City, Kevin Burnett Henry of Odessa, Darryl Glenn (Rhonda), Donald Edward (Senta), Roslyn Patrice, Wathena L., and Darvus K. Henry all of Midland. In 1967 Emma remarried to James Alton Pettit who was a loving father and mentor to all of her children.

Jean was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She was a homemaker for most of her life and was an intelligent woman with a heap of common sense that she used to mentor friends and family. She also loved cooking and working in her garden at home. At the time of her death Jean was surrounded by the love and comfort of her family and friends.

Jean is preceded in death by her mother Loretta Jones and father Willie Crawford, Louis Henry Jr., her husband James Alton Pettit, her brothers Anthony Crawford, Glenn Terry Crawford, and Quentel Crawford, her sister Marie Ann Johnson, granddaughter Dawnette R., grandson Robert Kytrell, and great-grandson Darryl Glenn III. She is survived by her siblings W. J. Crawford, Willa Mae Edwards, Wesley Crawford (Rev. Annelda Crawford), James Lee Crawford (Wanda Crawford), Jennifer Crawford, 9 children, and lots of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be missed dearly and cherished by all who knew her.

Family will receive friends on Sunday, May 12 between the hours of 6:00-8:00p.m. at Ellis Funeral Home; 801 Andrews Hwy Midland, TX 79701. Graveside Services will be held Monday, May 13, 2013 at 11:00am at Rest Haven Memorial Park and Mausoleum Cemetery at 4616 North Big Spring Street, Midland, TX 79705. After the service is completed, all are welcome to join the family at Greater St. Luke AME for food and refreshments located at 2201 E California Ave. Midland, TX 79701.
