

Eleanor Medley Slover passed away on September 9, 2010. Slover was born April 8, 1924 in Winnsboro, Texas to W.H. Porter and Vida T. Porter. She was raised in Lubbock, Texas and graduated from Lubbock High School. She earned an Associate of Arts Degree from the College of Marshall (now East Texas Baptist University) in 1943 and from Midland College in 1981. She was married for 49 years to George H. Medley, Sr., who preceded her in death. She was a legal secretary at a local law firm in Midland for more than twenty-five years, becoming a Certified Legal Assistant as recognized by the National Association of Legal Assistants, Inc. during the first few years that certification was available. She was a faithful member of Bellview Baptist Church for 57 years, and enjoyed singing alto in the church choir. She played violin in the Midland Symphony Orchestra soon after it was founded. She was also active in Chapter 253 OES and other related community organizations. For the past several years she enjoyed reading, working crossword puzzles, travelling, and spending time with her family. She is also preceded in death by her second husband, Claud W. Slover. She is survived by her four children; Margaret and husband Marshall Morris of Spring, TX, Anne and husband Jay McCollum of Gallup, New Mexico, Hal and wife Nancy Medley of Spring, TX, Jim and wife Lana Medley of Spearman, TX. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She is survived by the Slover children; Betty and husband Mana Ratanasavetavadhana of Midland, TX, Jane Savell of Brownwood, TX, James and wife Kala Slover of Midland, TX, and George and wife Celia Slover of Sulphur, LA. The family will receive family and friends at Ellis Funeral Home, Sunday, September 12, 2010 between the hours of 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Funeral services have been scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Monday, September 13, 2010 at Bellview Baptist Church with Reverend Myron Unruh officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Honorary pallbearers will be Gene Jumper, Jim Cobb, Mac Davis, Glynn Hopson, Dwain Ward, Manuel Arelleno, Jim Limbacher, Mana Ratanasavetavadhana, and the Bellview Baptist Church Adult 6 Sunday School Department.
