

Elinor L. Claunts, widow of the late Frank F. Claunts, died in Silver Spring, Maryland on July 7, 2012. She moved to Midland in 1960, and remained until 2002 when she moved to be close to her son in Silver Spring, Maryland. She is known among her friends for being a loving and devoted mother and grandmother, and for having a fun sense of humor and loving to tease and be teased—a quality she retained in her final years.
A rosary will be recited on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at 7:00 PM at Ellis Funeral Home, and a funeral mass will be celebrated at 2:30 PM on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 with Fr. Lopez presiding. She was born on February 5, 1911 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, where she remained and continued to live for the first 10 years of her marriage. She and her husband Frank, a landman for Gulf Oil Company, moved to Midland in 1960. Frank died in 1992.
She was a member of St. Ann’s Parish and active in the Altar Society. She was also a member of the Permian Basin Chevron Retirees Association.
She is survived by her daughter Helen and her husband Mr. Robert L. Howard of Houston and her son Frank P. Claunts and his wife Nancy of Silver Spring, MD. She is also survived by six grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
