E.M. “Red” Daugherty, 98, of Midland, passed away Wednesday, February 24, 2010. He was born July 21, 1911 to George Arthur Daugherty and Jennie Ruth Clendenin Daugherty in Carter County, Oklahoma. After graduating High School in Wilson, Oklahoma he attended Southeastern Oklahoma State. On June 29, 1979, Red married Lynn Maxwell Daugherty. Prior to his retirement he was a Production Supervisor with Amerada Hess Petroleum and Jim Henry Petroleum. Red was a member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Mae, and his brother, Wayne Daugherty. Red is survived by his wife, Lynn Daugherty of Midland, TX; son, Mitchell Daugherty of Lompoc, CA; daughter, Carolyn Phillips of Cache, OK; step-son, Melvin G. Maxwell of Camp Wood, TX. Also surviving are five grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren. Funeral services have been scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Saturday, February 27, 2010 at Ellis Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Larry Bailey of St. Luke’s United Methodist officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
