Erma Irene Starling

Erma was born to Estel and Nora O'Dell in Excelsior Springs, Missouri on September 17, 1933. She graduated from Excelsior Springs High School in 1952. Erma worked all her life from the age of 15 until she retired at 60. She met Max Starling in 1962 on a blind date and after only eight dates, they married on September 20, 1962. They were married for 48 1/2 years. Together they raised two children, Kim and Lisa.

Erma had a strong love for her faith, family, animals, and the Kansas City Chiefs. Erma is survived by her daughters; Lisa Starling and Kim Villarreal (Manny); her loving pets, nieces and nephews. Erma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Max; brothers Gilbert O'Dell, Garland O'Dell, and Jesse O'Dell, and sisters; Dean Anderson, Eva Swearingin, Ruby Holder, Marie Cooper, and Mary Reed.

Pallbearers will be Manny Villarreal, Brent Villarreal, Jeff Schwiezer, Chuck Sanders, Steve Sanders, and Eli Kuhlmann.

A public visitation for Erma will be held Wednesday, September 7, 2022, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Ellis Resthaven Funeral Home, 4616 N Big Spring Street, Midland, Texas. A funeral service will occur Thursday, September 8, 2022, at 2:00 PM at St Paul United Methodist Church, 4501 Thomason Drive, Midland, Texas, with burial to follow at Ellis Resthaven Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Humane Society or St. Paul United Methodist Church.
