Evelyn June Stanley Greer passed away peacefully, surrounded by her beloved family and loved ones. She leaves behind a legacy built on kindness, unwavering faith, and quiet strength.
Born and raised in Fountain Hill, Arkansas, Evelyn was part of a close-knit and hardworking family. During her high school years, her family relocated briefly to Lake Providence, Louisiana, where she graduated from Lake Providence High School in 1953. Shortly after, they returned to Fountain Hill.
In 1955, Evelyn moved to Midland, Texas, where she began her professional journey as a nurse's aide at Midland Memorial Hospital. She later moved to Monahans, Texas, and during that time, she commuted daily to Kermit to work at a coat factory. Eventually, she returned to Midland to continue her working life. Over the years, Evelyn worked for Levi Strauss, Petroleum Information, and eventually retired after running her own company, Permian Petroleum Services.
She was united in marriage to Edward Otis "Edd" Greer after being introduced by her aunt to "the Greer boys across the street." Within three months, Evelyn and Edd married— a love story that lasted 59 joyful years.
Evelyn was admired for her warm heart and quiet generosity. She was a longtime and faithful member of Cotton Flat Baptist Church and lived each day rooted in her faith. Her kindness extended to everyone she met, and she had a rare gift for making others feel seen, fed, and loved.
She was known for her many talents in sewing, crocheting, knitting, and quilting — often gifting family and friends with handmade creations. She found joy in playing Bingo, playing Bunco, traveling to Las Vegas, and cooking for her loved ones. If you asked her great-grandchildren, she made the best spaghetti and green beans in the world.
To her grandchildren's friends, she wasn't just a grandmother — she was "Grandma" to everyone. She knew no stranger and welcomed all with open arms and a home-cooked meal.
She is survived by her daughters and their spouses, all of Midland: Gail Greer (Daniel Smith), Daphne Gee (Ron Crow), Judy Dunham (Mike Dunham); "adopted" daughters: Sandy Grisham of Waco, TX and Trina Falcon of Andrews, TX (They considered Evelyn their second mother); sisters: Mary Craig of Hamburg, AR and Linda Shockley of Monticello, AR; grandchildren: Adison Gee (Melissa), Brandon Gee (Kaleigh), Chance Gee (Carrie), Breeann LeBlanc (Matt) and Hayden Dunham, all of Midland, TX and Wing Yin Leung of Brighton, UK; great-grandchildren: Addie Lee, Colt Gee, Payton Gee, Ariana Gee, Stetson Gee, Gemma LeBlanc, Ellie Gee, Brynnleigh Gee, Harrison LeBlanc, Penny Gee and Victoria Gee, all of Midland, TX and Ariel Leung of Brighton, UK. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews whom she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Otis "Edd" Greer; her daughter, Vicki Lynn Greer; her son-in-law, James Gee; her parents, Nathaniel and Madie Stanley; her brother, Clancy Stanley; and her sisters: Elvie Price, Vera Tollison, Anice Allen, Sherry Jeffers, and Violet Doggett.
Evelyn's life was a reflection of deep faith, unconditional love, and enduring kindness. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, church family, and every person lucky enough to walk through her door.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday, June 5, 2025 from 4:00-8:00 PM at Ellis Funeral Home.
