Francis Truly Hillin passed away October 31, 2012. She was born on May 30, 1918 in Cottonwood Texas to John W. and Sallie Merrell Truly, the second of five children. She grew up in Hubbard, Texas and graduated from Hubbard High School where she was a cheerleader and President of the Student Council. Francis went on to attend the University of Texas in Austin. Francis met her future husband Robert N. Hillin at the age of 15 and they were married five years later in 1938 in Lubbock, Texas. They followed the oil field around for the next 10 years finally settling in Midland where they raised their three children. Fran was active in the community, PTA, Little League, Midland Community Theater and the Arts. In the late 1950s she started The Hillin Company Realtors. She went on to serve as President of the Board of Realtors and was appointed “Realtor of the Year” 3 years in a row. She was an outstanding citizen of Midland. Francis became involved in Al-Anon in the late 60’s and spent the next 35 years in service to others. She has been a mentor, advisor and friend to countless people, both family and friends alike. She served on the board of directors for the Permian Basin Council on Alcoholism for many years. She was a founder of the Chapel of Light in Lake Whitney and a Christian. Francis was a world traveler; she travelled to The Soviet Union in the late 1970s as a citizen ambassador, travelled through the Holy Land, Asia, and Europe and extensively through the United States.
Francis was preceded in death by her parents, John and Sallie Truly, her brother Clyde L. Truly, sisters Helen Poff and Monette Tubbs.
She is survived by her brother Ralph Truly, her sons, Robert K “Bobby” Hillin and PJ of Houston, and Don A. Hillin and Susan of Lakeway, and daughter Franette Aaron of Midland; Grandchildren Deborah Hillin-Lamb and Husband Rick, Bobby Hillin, Jr., Adriane Lawless, Clay Hillin, Chandler Hillin, Tad Hillin and Wife Margo, Whitney Hillin, Suzette Blackburn, Eddie Hopkins and Wife Christi, Haili Brown and Husband Josh, Ashley Aaron, Trey Aaron, Sean Aaron and 20 Great Grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and their children.
Visitation will be at Ellis Funeral Home on Sunday, November 4, 2012 from 6pm to 8pm and services will be on Monday, November 5, 2012 at First United Methodist Church in Midland with Reverend Robert Pelfrey officiating, interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Hillin, Jr., Tad Hillin, Whitney Hillin, Trey Aaron, Sean Aaron and Bradley Montgomery.
