

George N. Greer, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, passed into the arms of his Heavenly Father on August 2, 2012 after a sudden illness. George was born in Richland Parish, Louisiana, on August 14, 1931, graduated from Rayville, Louisiana High School in 1949, served his country in the U.S. Air Force 1949-1953. In 1954 George moved to Midland, Texas and joined Dowell Division of the Dow Chemical Company. During his 30-year tenure with Dowell, he advanced from Lab Technician to Regional Chemist, taking early retirement in 1984. Since 1985, he and his brother Edward O. Greer, along with their spouses, have owned and operated Permian Petroleum Services, Inc., an oilfield trucking service company. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Rebecca Greer; brothers, Fulton Greer and Roy S. Greer and brother-in-law, Al Englehart. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sandra Greer; daughter Pam Greer of Del Mar, California; son Randy Greer and wife Daphne, and cherished granddaughters, Kendall and Cameron Greer, all of Midland. He is also survived by a sister, Patsy Englehart of San Angelo, Texas; brother, Edward O. Greer and wife Evelyn, of Midland; sister-in-law Helen Greer of Midland; brothers-in-law, Larry Roberts and wife Cathy of Midland; Jay Roberts and wife Carmen of Lewisville, Texas; a special cousin, Huey Morris and wife Sue of Jena, Louisiana, and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind very special friends, Roy and Chris Maskell of Midland. There will be open visitation at Ellis Funeral Home Saturday, August 4, from 8 am to 5 pm and Sunday, August 5, from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. A private burial service will be held by the family to be conducted by his nephew, Rev. Dan Greer of The Woodlands, TX. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Stonegate Fellowship, 6000 W. Wadley Ave, at 1:00 pm, Monday, August 6 with the Rev. Patrick Payton and Mike Goeke officiating. He was a longtime member of Stonegate Fellowship of Midland. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in George’s memory to Stonegate Fellowship Missions or Children Ministries or a charity of their choice. “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived with God has prepared for those who love Him” 1 Corinthians 2:9
