Goldie Olguin, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by family. Born on August 19, 1941, to Mattie Hunt and Emmett Stancil, Goldie lived a life full of heart, humor, and unwavering devotion to those she loved.
Over the years, Goldie worked as a security guard for Texas Instruments and as a cemetery sales representative for Resthaven Memorial. Yet, the roles she cherished most were those of mother and grandmother—titles she wore with great pride and unconditional love.
Goldie had a boundless love for reading, traveling, and animals—passions she joyfully passed on to her daughter and granddaughter. Her vibrant personality, quick wit, and generous heart touched everyone who knew her. She had a gift for turning everyday moments into unforgettable memories, and her laughter and light will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her devoted daughter, Debra Olguin Murphree, and son-in-law, Guy Murphree of Midland, whom she affectionately called her “partner in crime.” She also leaves behind her treasured granddaughter, Autum Goldie Stewart, and husband, Jarrett Stewart, also of Midland. Goldie’s love extended to several cousins and nephews, all of whom held a special place in her heart.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Lee Ellen Hunt; her brothers, Joe Hunt, Tommy Stancil, and Marshall Stancil; her beloved husband, Joe Olguin; and her cherished son, Mitchell Olguin.
Goldie will be laid to rest during a private ceremony at Ellis Resthaven Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the Midland Humane Coalition https://www.midlandhumane.org/donate.html or the Alzheimer’s Association https://www.alz.org/ —causes close to Goldie’s heart.
Her love and legacy will live on through the many lives she touched. She will be forever remembered and forever missed.
“Well done, good and faithful servant... Enter into the joy of your Lord.”
