Harold Keith Haro, age 70, went to be with the Lord on January 23, 2024. After a short battle with brain cancer, he peacefully passed away at his home in Houston, TX. His family was by his side. Harold was the beloved husband of Dawn Haro; and father to Rachel Bricout, Amanda Wallace, and Josh Haro.
Harold was born December 5, 1953 in Stuttgart, Germany. His parents were Marcus and Maria Haro. Harold was raised in El Paso, TX, where he attended Andress High School. He was a graduate of the University of Texas of the Permian Basin. His career started in Midland, TX, as a Driver Education Instructor, where he taught “the future drivers of America”. He wanted details of each vehicle his children were passengers in, which served them embarrassingly well. He later worked in Human Resources and Safety Management for various oil service companies. Harold took his role in life seriously and enjoyed guiding others to success. At one company, a couple of employees made bracelets which said, “WWHD” (What Would Harold Do?). This served as a humorous reminder of how greatly Harold cared for the safety of the oil field employees. This motto also carried into his life.
On May 18, 1985, Harold married his beautiful wife, Dawn. This is where his life truly began. He raised three wonderful children who would love him and test him to his greatest limits. He was the anchor to love, serve, protect, and guide his family to do more and be greater. He was firm with a gentle heart of understanding, and taught his family the value of a hard work ethic, discipline, and grace, to name a few. Harold enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, barbecuing, watching the Dallas Cowboys, discussing historical topics and politics, listening to his classic rock music, teaching life lessons, and taking care of others. Harold loved to check in on those he cared for. It was important to him to ensure loved ones were doing okay. He was very dependable with a servant heart, giving compassionately to any available need.
Harold is preceded in death by his parents, Marcus and Maria Haro, and grandson, Camron Haro. He is survived by his wife, Dawn; daughters Rachel Bricout and her husband Jeremie Bricout of Houston, TX, Amanda Wallace and her husband Arvin Wallace of Dripping Springs, TX, and son Josh Haro and his wife Erica of Austin, TX; grandchildren, Joshua, Gavin, Julia, Ava, Austin, Maya, and Winston; great-grandchild Lillian; brother Mark Haro and sister Maurene Haro; one nephew and three nieces.
Pallbearers will be Josh Haro, Joshua Haro, Gavin Haro, Arvin Wallace, Jeremie Bricout, and Mark Haro. Honorary pallbearers will be Austin Bricout and Winston Wallace.
Harold lived as he loved- by serving others. He leaves a great legacy for his family to carry on.
O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory? The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 15:55-58 (NKJV)
Funeral services will be at Ellis Funeral Home 4616 N Big Spring St, Midland, TX 79705, January 31, 2024 at 2:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations be made to the Glioblastoma Research Organization, in honor of Harold K. Haro: https://www.gbmresearch.org/donate
