I have known Herb since 1968 when Mike and Judy introduced us. He was a great gentleman, and an incredible artist. I start every day with a little piece of Herb because one of his paintings hangs over my desk. We will miss him but Herb will live on through his family and his art.

What a kind and gentle man Herb was as well as a respected talented artist. My husband and I have the privilege of owning several of Herb's West Texas watercolors and oils. It facinates us on his unique ability to capture wildlife on paper or canvas and in turn, create a childlike story or a heartwarming memory to us the viewers. Herb has greatly enriched our lives through his art and we will miss him. Our prayers are with you all. Greg and Shari Folger

I am deeply saddened to learn of Herb's passing. I am so blessed to have several of his sketches and oil paintings. I worked with Herb at Sunray DX. He was always a very kind and thoughtful man. In prayer for his family during this difficult time. May the Lord Bless and Keep All of You .

Herb was a wonderfully talented and sweet man who will be missed by so many that loved him. He was a good Husband, Father and Grandfather. My heart goes out to my sweet Aunt Dorothy, Cousin Ferrell and her daughters Carrie and Courtney as well as Herb's daughter Judy in their loss. I know you all miss him so much but find peace in the fact that he is no longer suffering and is at peace himself. And you will be with him again one day. All my love

Mr. McKinley,

Your paintings and sketches of the beautiful west Texas plains always mystified me. I never could imagine how you brought it all to life in art. As a kid, with one of your sketch books I tried to duplicate your art to no avail. I have always considered your daughter Judy as an Aunt to me and she showed me those books. That combined with all of your paintings displayed in Mike and Judy's home always left me in awe. Finally, I hang with pride in my office a painting you did of a male dog on point with a female backing her and the hunter on the way. It reminds me of many great days in the fields with my own dogs. You will be missed but your art will live forever. May peace be with you and to all that know and loved you.
