

Doyle Venable was born June 20, 1928 in Muse, Oklahoma. Upon graduation from Wilburton High School (OK) in 1947, Doyle joined the U.S. Air Force, serving as a flight navigator in Korea before receiving an honorable discharge in October 1952. He married Anita Wilson on December 29, 1956 in Midland, Texas.
Doyle’s early career was with Firestone, followed by 30+ years at Machen Contracting in Midland, Texas. In the Air Force, he played touring fast-pitch softball and enjoyed league bowling for many years. He further enjoyed annual visits to his high school alma mater in Wilburton, Oklahoma, one of the oldest high school alumni associations in the nation. His first reunion was their 50th in 1997. April 2017 would have been his 70th.
He was preceded in death by Anita, in 1996, his brother, Clarence, and sister Efie.
He is survived by his brothers, Darrel White of Dallas, Texas and Herb Bates of Virginia; two children, Stan Venable (Karalina), and Pam Myers (Jeff); 6 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Dad was a good father, a good friend to many, and a second father to many more. He will be dearly missed.
There will be a graveside service held at Resthaven Memorial Park tomorrow, Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. with Msgr. Droll officiating.
Pallbearers will be Ron Huffman, Don (Beans) Hyson, Roger Robinson, Travis Watkins, Jose Rey, and Scott Slentz. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jim Moore and Mark Moore.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Midland VFW at 409 Veterans Airpark Ln, Midland, Texas 79705.
