Hershel D. Floyd

Hershel Doyle Floyd began his life journey on July 28, 1928 in Licking, MO to Echols Duncan and Louisa Cole Floyd. He was raised in Missouri, Texas and Oklahoma. His profession was an accountant and he took an early retirement from Dowell to start a private accounting business with his spouse, Faye.

Hershel and (Lula) Faye Dillard started their lives together on August 1, 1953 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was proud to serve his country and received an honorable discharge from the Air Force in 1952. Hershel also served as President for the West Texas Airstream Travel Club and loved traveling the great US of A. His greatest honor was being selected to serve as deacon and elder at Edgmere (Wichita Falls, TX) and Westside (Midland, TX) Churches of Christ.

Hershel completed his life journey April 26, 2011. He was preceded in death by his son, David Keith Floyd. His survivors include: wife of 57 years, Faye; daughter, Felecia Gail Floyd McCubbin and son-in-law Doug McCubbin; grandchildren: Megan Elizabeth Floyd, Montgomery Dillard Floyd, Kendra Lynn McCubbin and Lucas Cole McCubbin, and one great grandson Bryant Keith Floyd.

Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home. Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, April 28 from 6:00-8:00 PM. Services will be at Westside Church of Christ on Friday, April 29, 2011 at 10:00AM with Don Mitchell Officiating. Graveside services following at Resthaven Memorial Park.
